Sometimes clients and people in networking groups ask: how can I move from my retail food business to wholesale?
First, i’d make sure you understand the logistics. Do you have your packaging nailed down? Does it have the needed info? What’s the shelf life? Does your product have any specific needs for shipping like refrigeration?
Food communities have great resources for new producers. I’d suggest:: Foodboro (National online) & Branchfood (local to Boston).
I I’d also suggest doing some of the local specialty food shows. Buyers come to look for new products. There is a great show in March. Last year it was held in Wayland. Look at sbnmass.Org for more info.
If you have a specialty product that is gluten-free i’d recommend attending local gluten-free food expos (food buyers also shop these) https://wickedglutenfree.com/
Make sure you have a sales sheet and very clear section of your website showing product photos of the different flavors so it's visually very easy for them to order from you and know exactly what they're getting. That's where I come in. I shoot food & products and specialize in wholesale and e-commerce photography.
Here's a scheduling link if you'd like to have a consult about creating photos for your business: https://hello.dubsado.com/public/appointment-scheduler/606c6417c5c2135d5e93e183/schedule
Congratulations on your expansion!
